Abstract

DETERMINATION OF VARIABLES WHICH HAVE BEEN ACHIEVING THE ACADEMIC SUCCESS OF PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

In this work, the relationship between the educational status of parents, gender, and learning and teaching parameters of sciences included in the PISA 2006 student survey and academic success of the 7 th grade students have examined the dependent variable of the analysis is students' success level in scientific lessons; the independent variable of the analysis is parameters of educational status of parents, gender and learning and teaching included within PISA 2006 student survey. For the independent samples t-test, One Way Anova test and multiple regression tests are used in the analysis of data. As a result of the analysis, while students' academic success was not changing according to gender, they differ accordingly to parents educational status. Hence, parameters of the importance given to daily life implementations and learning and teaching researches done by students are predicted as meaningful in the academic success of students in science.
