Abstract

ADMINISTRATIVE STRUCTURING OF SERVICE BASED LOGISTIC FIRMS BUILT IN ACCORDANCE WITH INDUSTRY 4.0

Virtual organizations have superseded physical logistics, which emerged following the First, Second, and Third Industrial Revolutions. The concept of virtual organizations, which is formed especially after the Third Industrial Revolution as a result of the common usage of information and communication technologies as a new production factor, consists of virtual supply and production, virtual order and distribution services, virtual education and technical support, marketing research and reporting, virtual sales and promotion organizations. Virtual organizations, which are formed due to the prevalence of digital technology resulting from the Third Industrial Revolution, will inevitably, undergo a drastic change as a direct result of the Fourth Industrial Revolution that will occur in the near future. In line with this, the concepts such as smart machinery and factories, robots with artificial intelligence, sensors implanted in machinery as well as information determination of products and custom made products will also change. The aim of this study is to analyze the concept of logistics by means of literature review, and to present a new perspective by providing the concept of Internet of Services instead of the concept of virtual organizations along with the concept of Industry 4.0, which is expressed as the vision of the future. Meanwhile, the study attempts to emphasize the concept of Internet of Services and to discuss the subjects of restructuring logistic activities of businesses within this concept, and transforming or updating already existing activities
