Zahir (apparent), the text, the hanafies, the majority of muslims scholars, the apparent, clarity of connotationÖzet
The semantics of Al-Wadeh (the clarity), for Hanafies, are divided into Zahir (apparent), Nass (text), Muffassar (interpreted) and Muhkam (firm). These divisions are not meant for themselves; rather, they are considered as a methodical work based on rules which adjust Al- Ijtihad (the studiousness) in texts interpreting, especially when there are contradictions among them whereas the highest outweighs the lowest.
Al-Zahir, for Hanafies, is a speech refers to a clear meaning as the speech is not presented for this meaning. It is, also, an expression whose linguistic meaning comes to Mind only by reading or hearing its form without depending on external proof to understand it.
Al-Zahir is Shara'ai proof which must be followed and adopted. What proves this is the consensus of Al-Sahaba (Prophet's Companions) concerning adopting the expressions apparent meanings; thus, that proof accepts Al-Ta'auel (interpreting), Al-Nasikh(replacing) and Al-Takhsis (specializing).
