The Aylak Adam novel of Yusuf Atılgan, which is important for Turkish literature, emerged in the period of the Second New. The world views of the Second New and the subject of the Aylak Adam novel are largely similar. Turgut Uyar's Geyikli Gece, which is considered to be the center of the Second New, has a similar point of view to Yusuf Atılgan's Aylak Adam with its unusualness. Based on this similarity, we deal with the reaction to the institutional and standardization, escape to nature, perspective away from socialist perception, reflections of the criticism of modernity, and the distinctive features of the works of women and sexuality. At the same time, the names consisting of a single letter that Yusuf Atılgan used in his novel as an element of strangeness attract attention. In our study, we discussed at what points the poems of Geyikli Gece and the novel Aylak Adam, the works of Turgut Uyar and Yusuf Atılgan, which went beyond the conventional in Turkish literature up to this time, met and to what extent and from which aspects the influence of the Second New was reflected in the novel Aylak Adam. In the light of the Second New, we tried to melt different perspectives on the world into a single pot by examining Yusuf Atılgan's Aylak Adam.
