In this study, the basic activities of logistics –a field which became important in the world with the globalization of the markets, the transportation of goods and services in a safe and fast way-, are conceptually approached. In addition, the third-party logistics and fourth party logistics concepts that emerged with the use of outsourcing in the logistics sector in recent years, as well as the integrated logistics that developed nationally and internationally in transportation have been addressed. The large share of combined transportation, especially in the integrated logistics, the capacity of our country in combined transportation and the status of the commercial transport in freight are examined in the light of some statistical data. Although our country has important strategic advantages due to its geographical location, it has been seen that it has developed below its capacity in combined transportation. Considering the advantages that we have, it was understood that combined transportation should be developed in parallel with national and global developments
