Abstract

In this research, it is aimed to investigate the relationship between organizational power resources used by primary school administrators and organizational silence and motivation levels of teachers. The population of the research consists of 1018 teachers working in 44 primary schools in Kayapınar district of Diyarbakır province in the 2017-2018 academic year. The subjects of the study consisted of 500 teachers who were working in 29 primary schools selected by simple random method. In the study, "Power Type Scale", "Organizational Silence Scale" and "Work Motivation Scale" were used. First, descriptive statistical techniques were used in the analysis of the data, second, to determine the relationships between variables, Pearson correlation analysis technique was used and finally, regression analysis was used to determine the predictive variables of independent variables. In general, it was determined that the organizational power sources used by the primary school managers have a positive and intermediate level between the reward and personality power and teacher motivation, and a negative and low-level relationship between the organizational silence levels of the teachers. It was determined that the organizational power sources used by the primary school managers had a negative and low relationship between the compelling and legal power and teacher motivation and a positive and low relationship between the organizational silence levels of the teachers. It was revealed that there was a negative and low-level relationship between motivation (internal and external motivation) levels and organizational silence perception of teachers. As a result of the regression analysis, the organizational power sources used by the primary school managers explain the teachers' internal and external motivation in a meaningful way. In addition, the organizational power sources used by the primary school managers were found to predict all sub-categories of organizational silence at a meaningful but low level.
