Abstract

Separation Anxiety Disorder (SAD) is the evaluation of individuals as the excessive fear and anxiety of children from basic holding figures such as parents, towards situations where separation is in question, such as death, divorce and illness, or just the expectation for the existence you have. AAB is classified as a childhood disorder in the 3rd and 4th editions of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). However, the fact that the prevalence of separation anxiety occurring in adulthood at birth is higher than expected has revealed that SAD symptoms can continue in adulthood when they end in childhood, or that symptoms can be seen for the first time in adulthood. As a result of these developments, the age criterion in separation anxiety disorder was removed in DSM-5 and arranged as a distribution covering both childhood and adolescence periods and adulthood periods. Adult separation anxiety, which has been studied very recently, can often be overlooked with the diagnosis of generalized anxiety and its major destruction. However, the study revealed that Adult Separation Anxiety Disorder (GAD) has a very high comorbidity rate with generalized anxiety disorder, major depression and other anxiety disorders, making the course and treatment of the disease difficult. The evaluation of a 26-year-old female patient with symptoms of adult separation anxiety disorder, who had previously experienced these symptoms in generalized anxiety disorder and major depression, using interview, observation and objective techniques is presented
