1980 and later are the years in which the emergence of new ideologies was realized in Turkey. In addition, these years mean a
period in which great transformations were created in various fields by these ideologies. Neoliberal and feminist ideology,
which entered the country in 1980 and afterwards, brought intense evolution and transformation in the economic, political,
social and cultural fields, and this situation was inevitable to be reflected in cinema. The characters with the greatest
transformation in cinema are female characters. It is undoubtedly the changes created by neoliberal and feminist ideology in
various fields in the country, which create these new characters that are very different from the female characters in the pre1980 cinema. In this axis, the reflections of neoliberal and feminist ideology on the transformation of female characters in
Turkish cinema will be discussed. Also, the female characters before 1980 and after 1980 in selected films in cinema will be
compared, and the effects of these ideologies on the transformation of female characters in cinema will be examined.
