Abstract

This research aims to develop a valid and reliable scale to determine and evaluate the writing concerns of primary school students. The data was collected from 721 primary school students studying in Kırıkkale during 2017-2018 academic year in order to make exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. First, a draft scale consisting of 53 items was prepared and eight faculty members were asked to work on it. Fourteen items were removed from the scale as a result of their evaluation. A scale with 39 items were prepared and the results of exploratory factor analysis to determine the validity of the structure showed that the scale has 4 factors and 20 items and explains 58.369% of the total variance. Confirmatory factor analysis was performed in the second stage and it was determined that the fit indices obtained at the end of the analysis were acceptable. Reliability of the scale was analysed by Cronbach alpha reliability coefficient and test – retest method. The analysis show that a valid and reliable measuring instrument was developed to determine the writing concerns of primary school students
