Abstract

With the ever-increasing population, industrialization and developing technology, cities are faced with rapid and irregular urbanization process. In cities where many natural and cultural elements are intertwined, natural areas are destroyed and artificial spaces and unhealthy environment are created. People who substitute their lives in this artificial and unhealthy environment are in search of a place where they will be more psychologically and physically comfortable. Within these space, open-green areas, one of the quality of life components, are important. Bilecik city is a small city but its population is increasing day by day. Considering that the city of Bilecik will grow larger day by day, preservation and development of existing green areas are necessary. Therefore, in this study, it is aimed to determine the distribution of open-green areas in Bilecik city. Its density, its per capita amount and its sufficiency. SPSS tool was used to determine the distribution of open-green areas. As a result, it has been determined that the amount of green space per person (15.1 m2) was found to be sufficient in the study area. However, when viewed on the amount of it falling into neighborhoods, it has been determined that the urban open-green areas are not regularly distributed and can not meet the needs.
