ASSESSMENT OF POSSIBILITIES OFTHE REUSEING OF AHMET EFENDI BATH AND IT’S SURROUNDINGS

Abstract

The historic centers of many cities in our country have been under pressure of intense change and transformation and they lost their authentic identities. In these urban areas, buildings with historical identity were demolished and replaced with new buildings with economic concerns. The historical center of Konya was also affected by this change and lost its grant number of architectural cultural heritage. Aziziye Mosque, which is an important point of the historical city center of Konya and its surroundings is commonly used by both Konya city dwellers and tourists. In this article, historical environment referenced suggestions were brought with drawing attention to the changes in the urban square which is surrounded by Aziziye Mosque and Ahmet Efendi Bath and with to identify the problems arising from negative changes base on architectural design studio results. As a results, some evaluations were made on historical environment-sensitive design criteria in the historic city centers
