Abstract

The arrow, which was the in dispens able range and hit we apon of wars until the middle of the 16th century, wasaccepted as the most effective weapon of the period. Archery, whic hemerged as a wartechnology in the Central Asian Turks, wasused by horse cavalry, andmilitary superiority was achieved againsto ther civilization sand communities. Archery, whose Effect decreased with the practical use of firearms in the Ottoman Period, continuedits spiritual existence with the protection of some tekke sand archery was tried to be keptalive as a sportives kill until the last period of the Ottoman Empire. The Turks, whouse dseparate bows for war, range, batting and sports, managed to develop arrows suitable for these purposes. Arrow; It has a structure made of birch, thetrunk of which is depicted as if it were a human body and divided in to sections. Over allarrow; While it consists of there arsight, vest, body andarrow head, the body is divided in to head, chest, calf and foot sections. The body; It is in thes tructures of Şem Endam, Tarz-ı Has and Kiriş Endam. However, thearrows; It is used for different purposes according to the vestand arrow head types. The most important purpose of this study is to be able to expla in the types of arrows that we can see in different name sand definitions in the literature with an under stand able classification andex planations reflecting the purpose. Rareworks, evaluated in historical depth, were examined with a retro spective approach, compared with current works, andevaluations were made on the conceptand definition problems
