Abstract

Banknote continues to be one of the most preferred and widely used payment methods worldwide, especially for its efficiency and universality. Due to this widespread use, it is very important to preserve the integrity of banknotes as they play an important role in the healthy functioning and economic activities of society. Engraving, one of the intaglio printing techniques, is used in banknote production. With the engraving technique used in the printing of money, a more delicate and skillful process is entered. The different aspect of the taille-douce technique, which is the most difficult of the engraving technique and which is rarely known in our country, with the engraving technique is due to the fact that 30-60 lines in a minimum of 7 microns depth and thickness can be engraved on a 1mm2 area. It is essential to achieve it with more frequent and repeating carvings rather than deep engraving to create darker lines. In addition, another distinctive feature of the technique is that the artist, who creates the striped composition to reveal the effects of light and shadow on an image, is created by superimposing other parallel lines aligned with these lines at another angle. Then, light and dark values are obtained by placing dots between the rectangular shapes formed according to the shading. The most important factor in choosing this engraving technique is that it is inimitable and constitutes the most important security element against forgery. Detailed information was given about the technique to keep this technique alive, which is no longer used in coin printing with today's technologies
