JOB SATISFACTION AND PATIENT SATISFACTION OF EMERGENCY SERVICE EMPLOYEES: THE CASE OF PRIVATE HOSPITAL

Abstract

It is a study in which the emergency service, which is a unit that is easy to access in hospitals and other health institutions and has an area where the ambulance can approach and provides this service to patients who need emergency medical assistance, and the job satisfaction and patient satisfaction of the staff working here during the service provided to the patient.
The research was obtained with the participation of 360 patients and 30 employees using a face-to-face questionnaire method applied to a sample of employees and patients of 3 private hospitals in Istanbul province. Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale was used as a data collection tool. Scanning model was used in the research. Frequency (f), percentage (%), arithmetic mean (x̄), T-test, ANOVA, Pearson's bidirectional correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis techniques were used to determine the validity and reliability of the questionnaire as well as its internal consistency. All analyzes were made use of the SPSS 22.0 software program.
The universe representation rate of data obtained from the surveys applied to emergency service workers is 70%. The average score of satisfaction of the group was found to be 112.31±5.68 and the general satisfaction level was considered to be at a very good level. The average job satisfaction score of the group was found to be 38.34 ± 15.72. It is evaluated that the general job satisfaction level of the group is below the middle level. Therefore, the group's job satisfaction level is not good. The question regarding my conscientiousness got the highest score (X̄= 2.85) and it was evaluated that the participants attach great importance to having a permanent and stable job and that they have a desire to work honestly by a making conscientious objection. ANOVA test was applied to determine job satisfaction and satisfaction level, and it was found that the difference between the arithmetic mean between the two groups was not statistically significant at the level of 05 (p> .05).
