The Baroque Period, which is considered to be one of the most important periods in the history of music, has influenced the whole of Europe since the middle of the 16th century and many artists have composed unforgettable works as a result of the understanding of art that interacts with the characteristics of this period. First, composers such as A. Corelli, A. Vivaldi and J. S. Bach have influenced a wide audience by forming important cornerstones.
Corelli, who made great contributions to the music of the Baroque period as a composer and violinist, shed light on many famous composers, who came after him, by developing the form of “Concerto Grosso”, the most important form of the Baroque era.
Corelli composed 12 concertos grosso. The best known of these is op.5 no 12 ‘La Folia’. This work of art has a very important place and popularity with the violin techniques used among Corelli’s violin works of art. In this study, besides the place and importance of Corelli in the history of the violin, op. 5 no. 12 ‘La Folia’ was studied, and as a result of the content analysis, it was tried to contribute to the performers in order to play and interpret this work of art better.
