Metaphor is defined as a powerful mental tool used by an individual to understand and explain a higly abstract, complex or theoretical phenomenon. Metaphors are known to have functions such as abstract expression, metaphor, caste and explanation. The purpose of this research, to determine the mental images of preschool teacher candidates for postgraduate education by metaphor technique. The study group consisted of the students of the Abant İzzet Baysal University Preschool Education Department of Bolu in 2018-2019 academic year. In order to learn the metaphorical perceptions of the students about postgraduate education “ Postgraduate education is like ……… Because……..” were asked to fill in the sentence from them. As a result of the research, it seen that the students define graduate education with many different metaphors. In this context, 11 different categories were obtained. When these categories are examined, it is seen that the most metaphor is the development category, the least metaphors are in the category of dissatisfaction and opportunity.
