PHILOSOPHICAL AND POLITICAL CONSIDERATIONS ON GLOBAL CAPITALISM AND MEDIA

Abstract

Capitalism is a system that has existed for at least five or six centuries. The globalization orientation has been included in capitalism since its birth. In this sense capitalism and globalization are not separate events. Globalization is a quality of capitalism. One of the vectors that make global capitalism possible is the media. Interwined and integrated facts such as the media, communication Technologies and the cultural sector operate the presence of global capitalism. In the same way, the media add to global capitalism an important operability and continuity.
The aim of this study is to examine global capitalism and media on the basis of philosophical and political considerations. Documentary research method was adapted in the study. In general, a qualitative rather than quantiative approach was followed. As a result, the findings are expected to be the kind of findings that will make it possible to look critically at global capitalism ad the media on a pilosophical and political basis.
