Abstract

The main purpose of this research is to determine the patriotism attitude level of the education faculty students. The participants
of this research, which is carried out descriptively, are the students studying at the Education Faculty of Nevşehir Hacı Bektaşi
Veli University. The sample of the study consists of 210 volunteers who are determined randomly. The data collection tool
used in the research is the Patriotism Attitude Scale developed by Schatz, Staub and Lavine (1999) and adapted to Turkish by
Yazıcı and Yazıcı (2010). At the end of the research, the blind- patriotism attitude level of the education faculty students was
moderate and the constructive patriotism level of the education faculty students was high. There was no significant difference
between the patriotic attitude level of the teacher candidates and the variables of "gender", "department", "frequency of reading
books", "education level of parents". This research is important in terms of pointing out that teacher candidates can have the
ability to criticize their homeland constructively without losing their sense of unity and solidarity. Moreover, qualitative
research can be done on this subject.
