Abstract

Architects of the future are trained in architectural education. There are factors affecting architectural design in this training
process. The cultures of individuals are reflected in the architectural design process. The culture of the student affects the design
process. In this change in the design process, the relationship between the studio manager and his student is important. In this
study, it is aimed to investigate the effect of the cultural scheme on the design process of an individual in architectural education.
A field study was conducted to examine the effect of the cultural scheme on the design process. In the field study, the survey
method was used in the first-year students of Seljuk University, Department of Architecture. In this survey study, questions
were asked to obtain information about the students participating. In addition, the participants were asked to draw the house
where they currently live with their family and the house they want to live in. According to the results of these surveys and
drawing studies, it was determined that the house where the students lived with their family in the present situation resembles
the house they dream of. In terms of design, this similarity was influenced by the fact that the student wants the activities and
habits he does his daily routine at home in his dreams.
