Architectural design is seeking solutions to many problems. One of these problems is the fast and safe evacuation of people in buildings. Mosques are the place of worship for Muslims and is a multifunctional gathering center. The number of mosques in Turkey is about 89.300 and increasing by the day. Mosque is an important type of building for the effective evacuation of people in case of panic. Panic can lead to death and injuries during the escape of fire, confluency, earthquake, terror or emergency situations. In emergency situations there is a risk of effective evacuation due to the hosting of many people at the same time in mosques. Nevertheless, there is not enough work in all of the literature for the panic behavior and its consequences in mosques. It is important to understand the dynamics of panic for users in mosques and to understand panic behavior in order to make the ideal design. It is possible to avoid the risk of loss and damage by taking precautions at design stage. In this article, the mechanism of panic formation is summarized from the literature and the panic situation and the results in the mosques are compiled through published news.
