DARLING IN GAZIANTEP FOLK SONGS

Abstract

Important cultural values of Turkish society can be transferred from generation to generation through oral culture products.
These products, which can be regarded as important records of the world of emotions and thoughts of the society to which they
belong, are also historical documents.
One of the most common oral culture products is folk songs for all ages and people. While the folk songs differ from other
genres in terms of their melodies, what these melodies make to people makes an important contribution to the depth of meaning
of the folk songs.
In this study, the TRT repertoire was searched and examined in terms of the content of folk songs of the Gaziantep region. In
Gaziantep folk songs, which were mostly lyrical, how the physical and personal characteristics of the lover found expression
in the eyes of the society and the lover, and how it was expressed in folk songs were evaluated.
