the qualitative research methods was used. Participants of the study were determined by purposeful sampling method and
consisted of 11 female academicians from various branches working in the Faculty of Education of a public university. In the
study, semi-structured interview questions prepared by two different academicians who are experts in their field were used as
data collection tools. The qualitative data obtained were analyzed with the help of content analysis. As a result of the analyzes,
it was seen that the difficulties faced by being a female academician could be grouped with six themes and the codes contained
in these six themes. According to the opinions of female academicians, it is concluded that although there are positive elements
that female face in academic process and family life process, negative elements are more dominant. In addition, it has been concluded that the more altruistic and protective attitude of motherhood has been exploited by colleagues and students in some
