Abstract

The aim of this study is to explore the balance of women and work life in the context of glass ceiling syndrome theory. The active and productive role of women in working life will benefit the development of the economy and the advancement of social status. In addition, the value created by women in business life, economic and social development after continuous employment increase, decrease in unemployment rates and welfare level will increase. Women are individuals with innate productivity, creative, imaginative and able to shape society. The glass ceiling theory, which supports the basic assumption of the research, explains the problems that are not seen, but often felt by women and, when expressed, are expected to prove. It is seen that sexist approaches are included in the scope and still has an effect in today's modern societies. The theory also explains the problems faced by female employees and the barriers to career levels. The working group of this research consists of academic and administrative female employees in enterprises operating in education sector. In the study, qualitative research methodology was adopted and interviews were analyzed with Nvivo 12 program and interpreted with content analysis pattern. According to the findings of frequency analysis and word tree analysis, concepts such as women, men, wages, children, birth, legal can be expressed as the basic building blocks of many expressions. As a result of the analyzes carried out on the basis of concepts, mobbing, glass ceiling syndrome, restriction or disallowment of administrative powers, making sexist distinctions and injustice arise.
