Abstract

In general terms, the Eurocentric paradigm states that the history of civilization and thought which as an activity starting with
Ancient Greece and reaching the modern era belongs to the West. This approach causes especially the history of science to be
considered as a process which starting from Ancient Greek and contributed only by the Westerns. As a result of this,
contributions of both civilizations before the Ancient Greece and Islamic civilization to the history of science in the Middle
Ages have been ignored. In this context, Fuat Sezgin's studies and thesis are fundamentally changing the assumptions about
prevalent idea of history of science and his cruising. Instead of the dominant approach that sees scientific activities as belonging
to a civilization basin, Fuat Sezgin introduces a more objective approach that treats this activity as a common heritage of all
humanity and accepts the contributions of all civilization basins
