Abstract

The concept of rhetoric discourse, which is described as the art of elocution is seen as an effective and persuasive communication tool in terms of both individual and organizational point of views. Particularly, the fact that the behaviors displayed towards customers are effective when to make the sale of products and services in the tourism industry in which people are being served by human beings (other people) makes essential that both the owners and directors of the enterprise and employees of the tourism industry need to focus on rhetoric discourse. Therefore, all the workers of the tourism industry should have information about rhetoric discourse. In this vein, this study aims to determine the rhetoric discourse perceptions of the employees having peer-to-peer communication with customers in hotels and to find out whether their rhetoric discourse perceptions vary in accordance with the employees’ some demographic characteristics. The rhetoric discourse perceptions of the hotel employees were measured through the ‘’Rhetoric Discourse Perception Scale’’ which was developed by Rüzgar and Akdemir (2017). The study unveiled that the hotel employees perceived the rhetoric discourse positively, making benefit from rhetoric discourse may be effective when to achieve organizational objectives and they used rhetoric discourse with the customer relations. Besides, a positive and significant difference was uncovered between the rhetoric discourse perceptions of the employees in accordance with their age group.
