Abstract

Mission, vision, goals and values are among the most important elements of strategic management; they are very important expressions in terms of revealing the fundamental differences between the past and the future of an enterprise. In particular, the mission statement includes not only the reason for the existence of an enterprise, but also the declarations of the needs of the society. The mission statement sets out a road map of the framework in which the objectives of the enterprise should be set for the future. For this purpose, enterprises should define their own mission statement and guide their actions within the framework of this statement. The aim of this study is to measure the level of strategic value of mission statement in universities. In this context, mission statements of 11 universities that are members of ÜNİGAP were subjected to a comparative content analysis. In the scope of the analysis, the fact that 9 of the universities were public universities and 2 of them were foundation universities made public-private comparisons possible. In the light of the data obtained, it was determined that the universities included in the analysis frequently used student, public anxiety and growth values
