Abstract

When we look at the chronological order of art, printmaking, which has developed in parallel with other fields of plastic arts, has become an indispensable means of expression in art environments with its wide technical possibilities. After the painting went out of the canvas after 1940s, the renewal movements that occurred in surface and plan relations caused the artists to change their points of view, andalso enabled the techniques such as readymade, photocopying and frotage to be included in contemporary art as new forms of expression.
As the heart of the art world began to beat in the 1950s, the increase of the number of artists producing works with printarts has been observed. Printing, which enables mass production, has become an important technique for pop art artists with its structure suitable for industrial culture. Many artists such as Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg and Claes Oldenburg have done many works, especially with screen printing and other printing techniques.
The art of printmaking has been influenced by socio-economic and socio-cultural changes and developments that took place in Europe and America after the mid-20th century and contributed to the acceleration of art within the framework of contemporary understanding. The aim of this study is to describe the reflections of contemporary approaches in interdisciplinary interaction in printmaking.
