Abstract

The members of the Qurayshin family, who have spread to many regions today and are accepted to be coming from the family
of the Ahl al-Bayt, originate from Tunceli/Nazımiye and Gaziantep/Yukarı Kayabaşı Village. The name of their ancestors is
Seyyid Mahmud-i Kebir, the agnomen of it is Quraysh.
In recent years, much information has been given about this family, both verbally and in a written way. However, it seems that
this information about the tribe and its ancestor has missing parts and mistakes. While some claim that Quraysh, who is the
tribe’s ancestor, is also Seyyid Mahmud Hayrani, who has the tomb in Aksehir, others claim that there is a father-son or
grandfather-grandchild relationship between these two. In some studies, Quraysh and Dervish White/Gevr are compared. These
researchers claim that according to the strong oral narrative that has been transmitted for centuries, the genealogy, which is
known to be owned by Quraysh, actually belongs to Dervish White.
In this study, firstly, it will be tried to proven that Quraysh and Seyyid Mahmud Hayrani are different from each other. For
that, the informations about the life of Seyyid Mahmud Hayrani, which obtained from the historical records, and the
informations about the life of Quraysh, which obtained from oral sources and the genealogy, will be compared and analyzed.
Secondly, it will be tried to be proven that the historical relationship between Quraysh and Dervish White is in the form of Pir-
Rayver and that the genealogy belongs to Quraysh. For this, the data obtained from face-to-face interviews and the informations
in genealogy will be compared and analyzed
