NURSES’ COMPLIANCE WITH DRUG APPLICATION STEPS AND ITS PLACE IN HEALTH QUALITY

Purpose of this research is to research the compliance of nurses with the steps of pharmaceutical practices develop ways to cancel or decrease known patient safety risks of treatment mistakes and evaluate its importance at health of quality.
Medication errors have very important place inside medical misapplications, and create risk for patient safety. By knowing how good the nurses follow the steps of drug application, the necessary improvements and better methods in order to sustain continuous improvement adopted by total quality management can easily be implemented. Thus measures will be taken so that the risk will be reduced and patient safety will be ensured.
This research had been made in 10 different sevices of hospital A. 83 nurses who have completed their trainee period in their services had participated i,n this research. The form that consists of the questions that takes into account eight corrective steps were taken as a basis for drug application steps. Every nurse had been observed 4 times by using these forms during drug application.
Finally, success rate had been found to be below the target which is 90% at different drug application steps in different services. So it was vital to take precautions in these services
