Abstract

In this study, the relationship between authentic and paternalistic leadership characteristics of school principals and teachers'
job satisfaction perceptions was investigated. The sample of the study consists of 413 people working in Çankaya, Keçiören,
Yenimahalle, Altındağ, Etimesgut, Sincan, Gölbaşı and Mamak districts of Ankara province as of 2018. According to the data
obtained, a weak positive relationship was found between Authentic Leadership and Paternalist Leadership and Job
Satisfaction. As a result of the analysis, no significant difference was found between the groups in terms of gender, educational
status, marital status and working time groups. As a result of the analysis among age groups, it was found that the 26-35 age
group had higher scores on Internalized Morality, Self-Awareness and Charitable subscale, and Authentic Leadership and
Paternalist Leadership scale scores compared to 36-45 age groups. Among the total service time groups, those with a service
of 1 year or less had higher Transparency in Relationships, Internalized Morality, Balanced Assessment subscale scores and
Authentic Leadership scale scores than those with 11-15 years of service. Self-awareness subscale scores of those with 11-15
years of service were found to be lower than those with 1 year or less of services and 6-10 years of service.
