In this study, determination of awareness and attitude levels of physical education and sports teacher candidates' environmental
problems related to environmental problems of four universities in Central Anatolia Region (Niğde Ömer Halisdemir
University, Aksaray University, Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University and Erciyes University); The aim of this study was to
determine the differences between the variables (gender, educational level of parents, type of sport, settlement where they live
for the longest time and university where they study). The research was conducted in 2014-2019 academic year autumn
semester. physical education and sports teaching department with the participation of 380 students. In the study, to determine
the awareness and attitudes of the candidates about environmental problems, the awareness scale related to environmental
problems of 44 items developed by Güven and Aydoğdu (2012) and the attitude scale for environmental problems developed by Güven (2013) were used. The data obtained were analyzed using SPSS statistical analysis software. Descriptive statistical
techniques, independent groups t-test and ANOVA were used in the analysis of the data obtained, and the level of acceptability
was determined as .05.
As a result of the study, it was found that the awareness levels of the physical education and sports teacher candidates on
environmental problems were high and their attitudes were positive. Candidates' awareness and attitudes towards environmental
problems do not differ according to five variables. In addition, it was found that there is no connection between the awareness
levels and attitude levels of the candidates regarding environmental problems.
