Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between teachers' perceptions of teaching planning competencies
and their perceptions of time management skills. In this respect, the research is a quantitative relational research. The overall
population of the study consisted of Turkish teachers in Turkey. The population of the study consists of Turkish teachers
working in Eyüpsultan, Gaziosmanpaşa and Sultangazi districts of İstanbul during the 2016-2017 academic year. A sample
was chosen because it was very difficult to reach all teachers in the study universe. The sample was determined by simple
random sampling method. The first part of the data collection tool consists of a personal information form. In the second part, “Teaching Planning Competence Perception Scale” is included. In the third part, “Time Management Inventory” is available.
Statistical package program SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences, Version 21.0) was used for statistical analysis. In
the study, the following conclusions were reached: There is a moderate positive relationship between the perceptions of
teaching planning competencies and time management skills “time planning skills” sub-factor. There is a significant positive
relationship between the perceptions of teaching planning competencies and time management skills “time attitudes skills”
sub-factor. There is a positive relationship between the perceptions of teaching planning competencies and time management
skills “time wasting skills” sub-factor. There is a positively moderately significant relationship between perceptions of teaching
planning competencies and perceptions of time management skills. The level of teachers' perceptions of teaching planning
competencies is “high” and the level of time management skills perceptions is “frequent”. Teachers' perceptions of time
management skills differ statistically according to “gender” and “marital status” variables.
