Abstract

Globalization discussions are experienced on an ideological level. The factual realities can be examined in a form of reductive and generalist by ideological approaches. Such approaches reflect an integrated contingency and holistic negativity. Even though there are multidimensional and comprehensive approaches other than these two categorical lines, positive-negative approaches suggest more echoing arguments. The concept of globalization does not have a common descriptive framework like other social sciences concepts. Despite these obstructive factors, this study analyzes the impact of globalization on regional development. In the process of when globalization is affecting many areas, it is unthinkable that regional and national development goals of nation states are not influenced by this process. The critical point is to uncover the level of globalization that affects regional development. Two different regions have been eclectically selected for this purpose. MENA and North America have been selected for this general purpose. In the context of the findings, the first thing that can be said that globalization is affecting regional development at different levels.
