The concept of visual hierarchy in newspapers was used by designers from the first years to present. Visual hierarchy is
an important visual communication application used in page designs to convey the message appropriately. In this study,
the application of visual hierarchy in page designs was evaluated by examining daily newspapers published in Mersin. In
the first part of the study, the text and visual design elements of the page design were evaluated and the sections of the
news texts were examined. In the last part, it is determined how the texts forming the news enter a hierarchical structure
and the hierarchical relationships of the news with each other have been determined. The analysis of the designs was done
using the semiological analysis method.
