Abstract

Turkey's relations with Germany began with the Crusades in the Seljuk Empire period. During the First World War Germany and the Ottoman Empire have fought together. However, the treaties with the winners on the loss of the First World War in both states forbade the political establishment of the two countries. The records belong in the Armistice of Mudros which is signed by the Ottoman Empire and the Treaty of Versailles which is signed by Germany with the allies.
The resumption of political relations between Germany and Turkey began with the request of newly established Turkey. Because the treaties that prohibit relations with Germany mean Ottoman-German relations and it is assumed that the newly established Turkish State is out of these limits. Germany was initially hesitant about political relations, especially at the opening of the embassy, and wanted to wait for other major powers to open diplomatic representation. Later, however, Germany, with the influence of German business circles, started a political and diplomatic relationship with a treaty to gain influence over a big market like Turkey.
