THE CHECK THE STATUS OF EMOTION OF PARENTS OF DISABLED CHILDREN

The purpose of this study, parents of children with disabilities check the status of emotion (anger, anxiety and unhappiness levels) in the child's age, gender, type of disability and the parents of the mother or father to examine variables such as the status of any receiving psychological assistance. The study was carried out on the parents of the mental disabled children attending in Special Education and Rehabilitation Center and Autistic Children Training Center in Ordu. The sample of the study consists of 386 parents from each of mentally disabled and autistic children. The parents included in the population were given Family Information Form as well as Courtauld Emotional Control Scale and asked for then to complete these forms. Greer Watson and the Courtauld Emotional Control Scale, developed in 1983. In 1993, Turkish adapted Courtauld Emotional Control Scale by Okyayuz. Whether the scores the population took are differentiated in terms of various variables or not was found by using SPSS 19.0, statistical package program. Two-way analysis of variance, stepwise multiple regression analysis, Pearson's correlation coefficient and Tukey test techniques have been used in analyzing the data. As a result of statistical analysis: There were no significant differences in check the status of emotion (anger, anxiety and unhappiness levels) according to gender of children, age of children, type of disability of children, the state of being mother or father. Psychological assistance support the parents "control states of emotion (anger, anxiety and unhappiness levels)" significantly lower than the others. The research results discussed in the light of literature and some suggestions have been made. Following recommendations can be based on the results obtained: Counseling for parents of children with disabilities will be expanded. Parents of children with disabilities "check the status of emotion (anger, anxiety and unhappiness levels)," reduce the educational programs can be arranged. Can be used with parents of children with a different type of disability.A larger sample group can be used
