Abstract

The purpose of this study is to adapt the Online Reading Self-Perception Scale for University Students Learning English as a Foreign Language, developed by Poomarin and Adunyarittigun (2020), and accordingly, to carry out validity and reliability studies in the sample of undergraduate students in Turkey. In order to carry out language validity, the original scale was translated into Turkish and the obtained form was applied online to undergraduate students studying in various departments. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyzes were made by dividing the data set into two parts by random selection, and convergence and divergence validity were evaluated. Analysis results confirmed the original structure of the scale consisting of 2 dimensions and 30 items. In this context, the sub-dimensions of the Turkish form of the scale are in accordance with the original form; It is named Social Reference and Self-Perception. Internal consistency coefficients obtained by applying the Turkish form were calculated as 0.999 and 0.998 for the sub-dimensions, respectively. The results indicate that the Turkish form of the scale is acceptable to use.
