Abstract

The research was conducted to investigate the relationship between the misconceptions about the pollution of air, water and soil of the fifth grade secondary school students and their parents in the 2016-2017 educational year. In the study; correlation design which is one of the quantitative research methods was used. The research sample was connsisted of 204, 5th grade students and parents in Kayseri Center and certain districts, which was determined as a non-random. Three-Tier Diagnostic Test (UAKYBT) was used as a data collection tool. The data collected in the study were analyzed in the SPSS 22 program. As a result of this study, the level of understanding, misconceptions and misapplications of 5th grade students and their parents about air, water and soil pollution were determined. Using this information, the negative and nonsignificant relationship between students and parents was determined. In line with the results obtained, various proposals have been presented for the students, their parents, educators and those who prepare the Science Education Program
