HISTORY OF SYRIA-TURKEY RELATIONS AND ECONOMIC RELATIONS BETWEEN SYRIA AND TURKEY BEFORE THE CRISIS

Abstract

In this study, rapidly developing economic relations in the fields of trade, energy, tourism, transportation, contraction between
Turkey and Syria before the Syrian crisis were examined from different perspectives. Relations between Syria and Turkey have
evolved day by day after the agreement on terrorism has been reached. Trade between Syria and Turkey has increased in many
fields. Mutual visits took place and reciprocal agreements have been signed. Turkey’s attempt to join the European Union has
increased mutual relations. Turkey is the gate way to Europe for Syria. Syria is also the gate way to the Middle East for Turkey.
In addition, the mutual border trade, transportation is important for the two countries.
