DETERMINATION OF RECREATIONAL TRENDS AND DEMAND OF BİLECİK CITY PEOPLE

This article explores the perceptions of local people about recreational trends and demands. The study area is the Bilecik City. The data were collected by conducting questionnaire surveys with local residents. Questionnaire surveys were conducted with a total of 300 local residents selected by quota and convenience sampling during March 2017 and April 2017. According to the results of the survey; the main recreational trends of local people; resting at home, spending time in café-restaurants, going to the promenade areas and shopping. 83.3% of the participants stated that the recreational opportunities in the city is insufficient. Participants stated that Eskişehir and Bursa are the most prefered cities by them for attend the various recreational activities. Among the prominent recreational demands of the participants are parks, promenade areas, landscape sources, cinema and restaurants. Recreational facilities are very limited at the Bilecik city. Increasing the facilities and opportunities will both lead to economic revival for the city and also city dwellers will benefit from various aspects of them
