A CASE STUDY ON THE YOUNG PEOPLE'S GENERAL VIEWS ON THE PLACE OF WORSHIP AND RELIGION (BURSA PROVINCE CASE)

Abstract

Efficient and quality execution of religious services depends primarily on the good knowledge of religious staff in terms of
professional knowledge and general culture. The fact that they are face to face and communicate directly with the public makes
the religious officials to stand out in the spiritual development of the society. For this reason, it is very important both for the
institutional and social aspects that the candidates who are very important for religious duty, such as professional knowledge,
skills and general culture, are well educated. The occupational competencies, needs and expectations of persons who are in a
position to perform such an important task should be determined through field surveys from time to time. However, there are
many elements that provide information transfer that stimulates young people with the effect of mass media and media on
developing technology and youth. At this point, the influence of the communication channels of the language they use besides
the occupational competences of religious officials is increasing. In addition, a more active and effective use of social media
affecting young people and a situation about young people's expectations should be determined. The aim of this study is to
determine the views of young people on mosques. Our study is a qualitative research. The research group consisted of young
people between the ages of 18 and 24 who expressed their religious and religious practices. 36 people participated in the study.
Interviews conducted in 2018 were analyzed by content analysis technique. While some of the participants found the practices
in mosques and their communication with young people positive, the physical conditions in mosques, the functioning and
environment in mosques, criticism of the qualities of the religious officials, and the need for new approaches were also
expressed.
