Abstract

Art education contains the most concrete data of the cultural heritage of a society within its structure. An individual getting art education shapes his/her future life by feeding from traditions. In order to raise culture – art values of Konya and our country and take it to modern level and meet the qualified employee need in this field, Selcuk University Faculty of Fine Arts was established on 04.12.1999, then moved to the new and modern building, which was constructed on the southern part of Alâeddin Keykubat Campus with 14 thousand 900 square meters space in the beginning of 2011 – 2012 educational year. Faculty buildings have different qualities and spatial organizations from each other. The aim of this study is to analyze Selcuk University Fine Arts Faculty in terms of architectural dimension with architectural analysis method and to determine whether the building is sufficient in functional and esthetical terms. Physical detections, observations and interviews related with the structure form the methodology of the research. In the study, spatial analyses were made at first based on physical condition detection, the structure was photographed and floor plans were created. The aim for making these detections is to point spaces, circulation and lighting areas on floor plans and to evaluate the structure in spatial quality and mass composition by matching with the photos. As a result, it is thought that the obtained data will shed light to fine arts faculty projects that will be designed in the future.
