Abstract

The writing skill which we learn in the teaching process is beneficial to us at every stage of our life. The person expresses himself in writing via writting skill which is one of the narrative skills. The main purpose of teaching writing skill given during education process ensure to express one’s feelings and thoughts in a proper and correct way.
It is seen as personal, social and occupational necessity expressing himself via writing. If the person communicate with other person by writing, it is personal necessity; if the person give someone information on any topic in order to enlighten, it is social necessity; if you have to write something about your work engaging in during your life or a different reason, it is occupational necessity.

Correct and effective expression is not a spontaneous or innate skill; on the contrary, it is emerged that the person learns the rules of the language during the education process and applies these rules on writting. Transferring emotions and thoughts in written as desired form, namely making the text understandable can connect to use punctuation marks in correct way. Therefore, it is important to use punctuation marks according to the features of the language of melody and syntax in writing.
Written expression which is correct and effective must have many features. It can be said that one of these basic features is to use punctuation marks. There are comprehension and expression problems in the educational environment due to the fact that students do not use punctuation marks.
In this study, example of Dicle University Ergani vocational college student, it was tried to find out why students did not use punctuation marks in written expressions and to find a solution to this problem.
In the study, interview method was used from qualitative research methods. The interview form was used to collect data; after the data were collected, content analysis and descriptive analysis techniques were used. Inductive approach was being used to categorize data. The data obtained in the study were interpreted and evaluated; tried to put forward solutions for the problem expressed by taking into account similar studies and the results obtained in these studies.
