Abstract

There are multiple psychological consequences caused by traumatic experiences such as depression signs, substance and alcohol dependence, anxiety, cancellation, post-traumatic stress disorder besides physical abuse of psychological shock.The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between childhood trauma and anger in university students. The study group consisted of 200 university students, 110 (55%) were women and 90 (45%) were men, studying at İstanbul Gelisim University. Participants were voluntary and responded to all questions. The participants were administered a socio-demographic data form, State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory (STAS), and the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ) to evaluate physical, sexual, emotional abuse and emotional and physical neglect. Data obtained by data collection scales were converted into statistical results by using statistical package program for social sciences (SPSS 18). Emotional neglect and emotional abuse was an important predictor of anger expression scale. The difference between childhood traumas and anger styles sub-dimensions was found to be statistically significant according to gender, profound experience, mother education status, father education status, working condition of mother, behavior and frequent anger
