Abstract

There are specific time periods, which are considered important in every religious culture. Kandil nights are significant nights, which Muslims regard sacred and celebrate blessedly for centuries. Muslims are encouraged to worship in these nights through plenty of ahadith reported regarding the merits of these nights. In this article -the hadith “Verily Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, descends on the night of the fifteenth of Sha‘baan to the lowest heaven, and He forgives more (people) than the number of hairs on the sheep of Bani Kalb.” is examined in terms of the reliability of the text and chain of narration, and the authenticity of the hadith is attempted to be identified.
