Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine their school perceptions according to the views of the children old 48-71 months attending to pre-school educational institutions. 117 children who are 48-71 month old in kindergartens of 4 primary education schools and 3 independent infant schools in Bolu constitute the study group of the research. The data of the research have been collected by using the semi-structured interview technique and analyzed through descriptive analysis. It has been determined that children generally perceive the school in a positive way, sometimes the personality trait of the teacher and the physical size of the school (that the indoor and outdoor areas are small) lead to negative perceptions. It has been revealed that there is a lack of materials especially in the indoor and outdoor spaces of the kindergartens and that the outdoor activities are not attached importance in both types of schools. Accordingly, it has been concluded that the quality and quantity of pre-school education institutions are influential in children’s perception of the school and that the indoor and outdoor regulations of these institutions should be done as a whole
