The coastal areas of the Eastern Black Sea Region, which contain important landscape areas in Turkey, are of interest for having a rich vegetation with unique beauties, sea and nature embracing a narrow coastline. The Eastern Black Sea Region, where the settlement and urbanization is predominant in the coastal areas, has a unique vegetation with the effect of the land structure and climate characteristics. In the coastal area, the forest structure has been destroyed due to the dense settlements over time and pseudomaki vegetation has been dominated.
Appropriate assessment of plants in designs is of great importance in terms of sustainability in design. In plantation design projects in Turkey; easy produced commercial plants are preferred rather then, natural species However, as a result of worldwide studies, natural species used in planting designs have been found to be more effective in applications. In this study, perennial plants which were grown naturally in Eastern Black Sea coastal areas were determined by field work, photography, laboratory work and strategies for use in designs were evaluated. As a result, 77 perennial plant taxa have been identified and the use of these plants in urban and coastal design projects has been proposed
