Although poverty has a historical process that is as old as human history, has become an increasingly important concept in recent years, especially with globalization. The purpose of this project is to expose the perceptions of poverty and life satisfaction of rural families to their own definitions and how well this definition overlaps with existing definitions of poverty and life satisfaction.
Because poverty in rural areas is more intense than in urban areas, rural areas are considered as research areas in this study. Therefore, the main material of the study was the primary data obtained from the families (222) living in the central villages (54) of Adana province. Poverty perceptions (definition of poverty, criteria, definition of socio-economic status of the family etc.) and life satisfaction (economic, social and cultural) of these families was revealed from the perspective of relative poverty. Data obtained related with poverty and life satisfaction are analyzed and discussed by descriptive statistical methods
