Abstract

In this study, the relationship between problematic media usage observed in children and the demographic characteristics of the mother and whether there are rules regarding media use at home was examined. The field of research, in which the relational survey model, which is one of the quantitative research methods and techniques and which is among the general survey models, is used, consists of mothers whose children are studying in primary school. The sample of the study consists of 362 mothers who were reached through the easily accessible sampling method and volunteered to participate in the study. The research sought answers to the following sub-problems: Does the problematic media use among primary school students differ according to the demographic characteristics of the mother (age, education level, and employment status)? Does problematic media use in primary school students differ according to whether there are rules regarding media use at home? Is there a relationship between the media usage time of primary school students and the media usage time of the mother? As a result of the analyzes made, the problematic media usage observed in primary school students differed significantly according to the mother's education level, working status, and whether there were rules regarding media use at home; It was found that there is a significant relationship between the media use time of the students and the media use time of the mother.
