IN SCHOOL SOCIAL SERVICES FACTORS AFFECTING EDUCATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT OF ASYLUM-SEEKING STUDENTS WHO ARE IN PRIMARY SCHOOL

The aim of this study is to determine the economic, social and parental problems affecting the academic achievement levels of asylum-seekers that receiving primary school education in Turkey in terms of school social services. The methodological approach of this study is qualitative. In order to achieve the purpose of the study, 10 teachers were interviewed in Sakarya who had asylum students in his/her class. In addition, an in-depth interview form has been applied to measure students ' academic achievement at four different levels. The data obtained from the research results were analyzed in a descriptive way. It was found that the educational achievements of asylum-seeker students have fallen due to their economic problems, they have minimal problems in friend relationships, but this situation does not directly affect their educational achievements, and the inability of parents to participate in the educational process has reduced their educational achievements. School social services and school social workers are needed to increase the school success of the refugee students
